Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
PATERNITY
Paternity DNA testing determines the likelihood that a man is the biological father of a child. Testing usually includes the child, alleged father, and mother; while the mother’s sample isn’t required, it improves accuracy.
Legal (court-admissible) testing follows strict chain-of-custody procedures. Schedule a convenient appointment for you with BioClarity Diagnostics.
MATERNITY TEST
A maternity DNA test confirms whether a woman is the biological mother of a child. Testing typically includes the child, alleged mother, and father; while the father’s sample isn’t required, it helps strengthen accuracy.
Legal (court-admissible) testing must follow strict chain-of-custody procedures and detailed documentation requirements.
TWIN ZYGOSITY TEST
This DNA test determines whether twins are identical or fraternal by comparing their genetic profiles.
Identical twins come from a single fertilized egg that splits, resulting in two individuals with the same DNA. Fraternal twins develop from two separate eggs fertilized by two different sperm, so their DNA is similar but not identical.
GRANDPARENTS TEST
A grandparent DNA test measures the probability that a child is biologically related to one or both grandparents. Since a child shares about 25% of their DNA with each biological grandparent, the lab compares genetic markers to determine whether the tested individuals are likely related.
Results are strongest when both grandparents and one parent are included. Testing only one grandparent can make results less conclusive.
The analysis assumes the tested grandparents are the biological parents of the unavailable alleged parent. If the parent’s paternity is uncertain, the alleged grandfather should not be tested.
PRENATAL PATERNITY TEST
If you need paternity testing during pregnancy, we offer a non-invasive prenatal paternity test. This method only requires a blood sample from the mother and alleged father. Fetal DNA present in the mother’s bloodstream after the 8th week of pregnancy allows us to accurately determine paternity.
SIBLINGSHIP TEST
A siblingship DNA test compares the DNA of two individuals to determine the likelihood that they share one parent, both parents, or no biological relationship. Testing a known parent is recommended for the highest accuracy but is not required. Results are provided as a probability, ranging from 0% to 99.99%. The more relatives available for testing, the more conclusive the results.
Depending on the question, the lab analyzes one of three comparisons: full vs. unrelated, full vs. half, or half vs. unrelated.
AUNT/UNCLE (AVUNCULAR) TEST
An avuncular DNA test evaluates whether a child is biologically related to an alleged aunt or uncle. Because a child receives half of their DNA from their father—and the father shares roughly half of his DNA with a full sibling—the lab compares shared genetic markers to calculate the probability of a biological relationship.
Results may be inconclusive, since an aunt or uncle only represents part of the father’s genetic profile. Testing the child’s mother is strongly recommended, as it helps separate the maternal DNA and improves accuracy.
Y-CHROMOSOME
A Y-Chromosome test determines whether two males share the same paternal lineage. Because the Y chromosome is passed from father to son with little change, only males can take this test.
The lab compares Y-Chromosome markers to see if the individuals could share a common male ancestor. While the test cannot identify the exact relationship, it can confirm or exclude whether two males come from the same paternal line.
